Naples, Italy

        July 2018

Naples is the regional capital of Campania and the 3rd largest municipality in Italy after Rome and Milan.  In 2017, around 967,069 people lived within the city’s administrative limits.  Naples has a raw high octane energy with two royal palaces, three castles, and ancient ruins that includes some of Christianity’s oldest frescoes. Naples is located two hours south of Rome.  It has the world’s best opera and theater houses and often called an open-air museum, due to the many statues and monuments. Neapolitan cuisine is synonymous with pizza (picture below), which originated in the city but it includes many other delicious dishes.  In some neighborhoods, especially near the cruise ports, Naples reminds me of a New York City subway station in the heat of July.  I used a Hop on Hop off Tour Bus to tour the city costing $27.55.
